On the recommendation of another UGA students, Mohr started working in the glamorous field at 24. She was crowned Miss Columbus 1985. Miss Columbus 1985, kissing her crown, after winning over all the contestants. As a result of her victory, Miss Georgia 1985 was qualified to participate in that pageant. The 22nd of June she also was named the winner of the competition. Mohr who had won the event, was able to compete for Georgia in the Miss America 1986 competition. Miss America 1986 in Atlantic City in New Jersey in September of 1985. However, she was not the top 10 finalist in the Miss America national title.
