Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an independent liberal news site, is a television personality as well as a writer and an philanthropist. She moved from Greece to England aged 16 where she obtained a MA at Cambridge University in Economics. As the first foreign student to hold the position of president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the position. In the years following her graduation, she became a prominent conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political scene. The fame of Arianna helped to attract several famous contributors who shared their opinions on the news, politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she decided to stand as an independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the former governor Davis. Alongside this she also led the Detroit Project to develop fuel efficient cars. Forbes listed her the most powerful woman in the field of media in 2009. Her ranking was 12th on the ranking. The Guardian added her to the list of top 100 media in 2009. In 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made the president of that media company, which also included a number of at the time-current AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media.
