Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life includes football scholarship, family service and involvement in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained a degree as an educator. Lee Roy's fourth time of service was ten-hours per week of volunteer time in the college. Following college, he moved to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. In 1988, he worked as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. In his time at college, he commanded the team of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
